The picture has shifted or tilted — how do I realign it?
When framing suddenly shifts or tilts, determine whether the cause is mechanical or in software.
- Check bracket and fasteners: wind load, vibration or insufficient tightening at installation lets a camera creep over time, which shows as gradually changing framing. Re-tighten and fit spring washers to prevent recurrence.
- Was it knocked? Construction work, cleaning or accidental contact changes the angle. On critical positions consider tamper alarms or a PTZ with auto-tracking.
- Recall the PTZ preset: PTZ models store presets and can return automatically. Calling the preset restores the standard view, so save a preset for every important position.
- Fixed and manual-zoom models: re-aim horizontally and vertically on site, then re-confirm zoom and back focus and lock the adjustment screws.
Operationally, keep a reference snapshot of every position at acceptance so routine inspections can spot drift by simple comparison.
